'Paddle Liner - Persia'

First, please note that this is a tiny painting!  Not a miniature exactly, but it won't fit over your fireplace, either.  The paintingg is oil on gessoed 1/8" masonite.  The size is 5" x 8-1/2".  With the framing the size is 10" x 13-3/4".

Launched in 1856, the "Persia" was the pride of the Cunard Line.  At the time, she was the largest ship in the world.  In only a few months after her launch, she captured the Blue Riband as the fastest ship crossing the Atlantic, a distinction she held onto for seven years.  She was eventually scrapped and broken up on the Thames in London in 1872.
