'Schooner'

A two-masted schooner under full sail.  I like to paint the sky and background in the traditional manner of loose washes, but then choose to paint the principle subject in sharper focus with more detail.  Here, the emphasis is on the boat and the texture of the sails.

It's watercolor, of course, painted on Arches 300 lb. hot press paper with Winsor and Newton paints.  The painting measures 6" x  9-1/2". The overall size with a museum quality mat is 10-1/4" x 13-1/2".  The painting is unframed.
